PINK!

Baby is arriving in about 4 weeks, so Bella needed to make the transition to sleeping in a big girl bed. Andy and I emptied the spare room and moved it to the basement. The spare room is now the "big girl room". Of course the quilt I found for her room had lots of pink in it, so Andy painted the room pink....and PINK it is!

Someone gave me some advice on transitioning from the crib to the bed that I decided to use. Start with just taking naps in the big bed for a week. After that goes well, then move her to night time sleeping in the big bed. So, a couple of Saturdays ago I put her down for her first nap in the big bed. She loved it! She did great and went right to sleep. At night we went in to grab some books off her shelf to read, and she wanted to read them on the big bed. After reading I was going to bring her to the crib for the night, but she instead she laid down and said "Goodnight!". She wanted to sleep there, so I with a little hesitance I let her. Again, she did wonderful. Sunday - napped great in the big bed. Sunday night - I started feeling a little emotional about letting go and her growing up too fast....she's my baby....she made this transition way too fast! It was supposed to take at least a week - not one day! Andy was gone at bedtime, so I put her in the crib! When he got home he lectured me about regressing and how if she's ready she should be sleeping in her new bed. I told him my "feelings" and tried to defend myself......Of course he is right though!! I blame it on the pregnancy hormones :) The next night and from then on she has been in the big girl bed.

We put up one of those side railings, because Bella is a wild sleeper and likes to roll in all directions when she sleeps. She has only fallen out of bed once so far. It was 1 am and I heard a THUMP. I ran into her room to check on her and she was still sleeping after falling onto the floor!

Here is Bella with her most recent sleeping collection. Sometimes the stuffed animals and baby dolls vary, but recently these four are a must: blankey, Puppy Max (she stole him from Grandma!), a little hippo (that is hard and anchors down balloons), and a Mickey Mouse clock. I'm not sure why she needs to sleep with the items that are hard. I can't imagine they are comfortable to snuggle with.

  1. The room turned out so cute. Good Job! Bella looks so happy in her big girl bed and Mickey Mouse looks happy to get some love again!
