Baby Bumbles was due on Saturday, July 25th, and Andy and I were waiting anxiously for the baby’s arrival. The due date came, and there was no sign of the baby coming so we went to a wedding on the due date. Every night and every morning I kept thinking maybe today…but nope…the baby kept making us wait! I was nervously waiting for these dreadful contractions to start sometime soon.
Then Tuesday night came and we had the scariest night of my life. It was 9:50 pm and I was laying down talking on the phone. All of a sudden I thought “Oh my gosh!! My water just broke!” The time has finally come! I quickly got off the phone, and I soon realized that it wasn’t my water that broke. I was bleeding profusely and it wouldn’t stop. I was so scared and we rushed to the hospital as fast as we could. Andy got us to the hospital in Oshkosh in record time. We were there by 10:20 pm. After seeing my midwife and the doctor on call, it was decided that I had to have an emergency c-section. Earlier in my pregnancy I had marginal placenta previa, but they say most women with marginal previa are not a concern because the placenta moves as the baby grows. A 32 week ultrasound showed that the placenta did move, and now they called it a low lying placenta. The doctor was not concerned about me having a normal delivery. It ended up being that as I dilated, the placenta and umbilical cord started to come before the baby since it was so low. Andy and I felt like we went through a whirl wind of events and emotions in a short amount of time. Before we knew it Andy was in scrubs and I was in surgery. At 12:31 AM on July 29th a baby girl was born!! When Andy said she was a girl, I responded with “No way! It’s not a boy?!? Are you sure?” The past 2 months I was convinced Bumbles was a boy, because his heartbeat was always in the 130s. I couldn’t believe I had a daughter. She was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long. About an hour after she was born I was able to see how beautiful she was. I love her eyes! We named her Isabella Ann. She was a wonderful 3 year anniversary present.
Here is a picture of Andy and Bella hanging out in the hospital. The first day she got a lot of daddy time. I think she already has him wrapped around her little finger. He sat and rocked her a lot in this chair.

And here is a big yawn…she is a sleepy girl! All she does is sleep and sleep. When she wakes up to eat, she will eat for about 10 minutes and fall right back to sleep. Nothing can wake this girl up!
My recovery is going well. Everyone is safe and healthy. We are glad to be home and thankful that my mom is here our first week home to help out.

What are these? These are two of Andy's golf trophies. Every year the city has a golf tournament for the city employees. Andy won two years in a row, and the above are the trophies representing his talent! Two days after Bella was born, the city was having the 2009 tournament. We were still in the hospital and Andy really wanted to go and see if he could win a 3rd year in a row. He ended up winning and now he has added this lovely flamingo trophy to his collection. At least there is pink on this one! The trophies used to sit in the basement, but now he wants to display them in the living room...temporarily of course, right?!?!
