Today is a very sad day for me. The bitter part....it was my last day of maternity leave with Bella. The past couple of weeks have been hard, because I knew this day was going to be here before I knew it. I have been trying not to focus on it, but it is difficult for me not to think about it. I love staying home with her! I can't tell you how much I am going to miss it. The sweet part...Bella gets to spend the next 4 months with her daddy at home with her. I know Andy is looking forward to spending his days with her. The transition of Andy and I swapping roles is going to be difficult at first. For me, because I don't want to be back at school when I have this sweet baby at home. For Andy, because Bella has decided to refuse bottles....the days may get long for Andy when he has a hungry baby who won't take the bottle!
I know I am going to be rushing out of work each day to come home to see my girl! I always looked forward to having the summer off, but summer really can't come fast enough for me now. I can't wait to be home with her again! Andy left for the weekend to go hunting, and I stayed in Appleton. My plan is to soak up all the Bella time I can get before Monday morning!
Here are some pictures from today:
This isn't the greatest picture of us, but it was the moment that was captured. Maybe she is mad because I'm going back to work on Monday and she was just expressing her feelings!
Oh those cheeks!! I've been thinking about you and going back to work, I can totally feel your 'pain'. As for refusing the bottle, here is a tip that I found, make sure the bottle is warm and the nipple is warm! Yesterday we were trying to give Mallory a bottle because I had to work late and Jesse didn't heat it up enough and she wouldn't take it. So I went to heat it up warmer and she sucked it right down! I also had to teach Mally to take it herself. She would not take the bottle if we were holding her so I gave up and put her in the bouncy seat and held the bottle - and she actually drank from it! Then I slowly started putting her hands on the bottle and pretty soon she could hold onto it herself! We had our fair share of battles-of-the-bottle! Stubborn babies! : ) I do know that this is totally normal because I would talk to other moms about it and they told me thier kids would hold out and wait for mom to come home!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you Tabby. That has got to be one of the hardest things a new mommy has to do. Be thankful she is home with her Daddy....
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute. Just like Mally I have luck feeding Jude ONLY when the milk is just right. For him it is the temp that is JUST a smidge warmer then skin temp. Squirt some on your arm to test. Took me a long time to figure out what the issue was. Today he guzzled about 7 oz down in 2 feedings. Good Luck to you all. Diann
